Welcome to Octber's Newsletter.
Welcome to this month's newsletter and it feels like Autumn is definately here! This time of year is always a tough one for golf coaches as the days of standing in the sun are becoming a distant memory and we prepare for wooly hats and thermal underwear!
The light evenings are also disappearing meaning that after work 9 holes is becoming less likely. It's a time of year however, that is perfect to get your game in shape as less course time/serious golf means more focus can be put on improving your game and practice!
I often get asked if I am quieter as a coach in the winter. My response - of course the summer brings more golf activity in general but the winter brings more golfers who are willing to work on their game without the fear of change while trying to play lots!
A winter plan for your game
Change takes time. Some changes can be immediate and positive but overall you need time to make things natural and unconcious so you can relax and play. If you want to play better golf next year then now is the time to have your game assessed and build a plan for your development so you can hit the ground running when the season begins.
If you want to play better golf next year than this past season then book in for an initial consultation session and I will help you become a better player and enjoy the game more than ever!
The Scoring Club
Coaching and Community app

Last month I announced my plan to launch my coaching and community app. I have been working hard on the planning and design phase while shooting some content for the coaching section. I have progressed well with the format and of course it may be subject to change, but here is what I have in mind to offer inside the app:
A community
Insdie the app will be a free community feature. A 'Facebook' group style page that allows you to learn from each other, share expereinces (and frustrations), ask me for help and advice and much more. The community will be free and open for all golfers at a basic level but as part of my VIP membership there will be much bigger benefits like monthly challenges, my favorite practice drills, posts from myself and my game and the ability for you to post your swing for advice.
Coaching
The coaching element of this app will be extensive. With over 100 videos, every area of the game will be covered. I have the following features already built and contant is being created as we speak:
Complete coaching
Available inside this area of the app for VIP members is the following:
- Full swing - A swing builder feature with a step by step process of improving your impact and ball flight. Diagnose your own swing and select from the faults and fix videos to make the right changes to suit your swing!
- Short game - All short game shots covered from basic techniques to awkward lies and specialist shots.
- Bunker play - Greenside and fairway bunker tecniques and concepts all covered along with tricky lies and different sand conditions.
- Putting - My intention here is to partner up with a putting expert to provide a putting masterclass!
Course strategy
Follow me around the golf course and learn how to plot your way from tee to green. Improving your score without changing your golf swing is the ultimate golf hack!
Golf fitness
I am partnering up with a local fitness instructor who has a passion for helping golfers. In this section we will cover golf specific fitness such as mobility, strength and power.
Practice
The practice section will help you practice with a purpose and learn how to take your range game to the course.
Ask Adam
The feature I am most excited about. This allows you to ask me anything golf related and I will reply with a bespoke video which will be available for all to learn from!
And this is a far as I have got. I have maybe 10% of content created at this stage so if you see me on the golf course talking to my camera, other than my social media content, this is likely what I will be working on!
I would love your feedback so if you have an idea that you think would be a helpful feature then please do let me know!
Student Case Study: Lindy O'Callaghan

This month's student of the month is Lindy. Lindy has been a client of mine for just over a year and has made huge strides with her game and a big decrease in her handicap. In May Lindy was playing off around 24hcp with the goal to reduce it to her previous level of 18.
So after an initial consultation session we identified the issues that lead to poor contact and directional inconsistncies. We worked on this aspect of her swing over the next few months and with consistent coaching and practice her contact on the ball and direction of her shots improved immensly!

Today and Lindy is just 1 shot short of her goal of 18 having dropped 5 shots off her handicap! An impressive achievement I'm sure you'll agree.
