Welcome to August's Newsletter.
Welcome to this month's newsletter. The start of this month was a quiet one for me. In fact I didn't give a single golf lesson for one simple reason - I went on holiday! Since starting at Blackmoor in April I haven't really stopped so it was nice to take a break and get away with the family.
We're very lucky to have family in the Dordogne region of France so we enjoyed a 2 week break with the family where cheese and wine were consumed in volumes and not a single golf club in sight! As all the parents will know, there's never that much time to actually 'relax' - most of our down time was spent chasing Everly, our youngest, around as she is the wild child!

We had great weather for the week ranging mostly between 25-30 and we visited some of our favorite places inclduing the historic town of Rocamadour. My favorite trip though was a preserved town of Oradour. The Nazi's tragically masacered everyone in the village in 1944 and the area has been preserved from that very day! Cars and bycicle frams still still outside the burnt down buildings along with sowing machines and stoves that sit inside the homes of the families. It's an amazing site to see although very chilling - safe to say the kids stayed with the grandparents for that day.

Back on a brighter note now and back to golf. It's amazing to think that we are aproaching September already - let's hope the warm weather continues and the evenings stay light for as long as possible so you can squeeze in those evening 9 holes (and practice!).
Golf Monthly Front Cover Surprise!
On the journey back from our holiday we stopped off at a service station for a quick break. While walking through the WHSmith store I glanced over to the magazine section and to my surprise I was shocked to see myself on the front cover of Golf Monthly!! I had to do a double take and then of course buy a copy! I have been working with Golf Monthly for a couple of years now as one of their top 50 Coaches and have been lucky enough to not only feature in the magazine and various media channels but also appear on the front cover, twice! In this particular edition of the magazine Golf Monthly have put together 100 of their best golf tips from the best coaches in the country so if you are looking for a quick hack on any area of the game you might just find it in here!

Unsure about coaching: How about a simple monthly check up?
I understand that the thought of coaching may be a daunting one. Will the coach change too many things and you'll "lose" your game? (No is the answer but it is a concern for many) Well, if you have been toying with the idea of coaching why not start with a simple 30 minute monthly check up? I have many clients that do this and they have all seen great results and reductions in handicaps. If this is something you are interested in then I recommend you book an initial consultation session first and then we can make a plan for your improvement at your pace.

Here are some benefits of a monthly check in coaching plan:
- Identify the faults in your swing that are causing loose shots.
- Set goals for your game improvement.
- Discover the best way to practice for your particular issues.
- Gain a clear understanding of your golf swing and why you hit the shots you do.

Student Case Study: Jack Howlett
This months student of the month is Jack. I first met Jack in December 2024 as a 12 year old 12 handicap golfer. The first thing that struck me about Jack was his confidence and calm nature. He had a great golf swing, very athletic and took his golf very seriously. My initial thoughts were that Jack was going to be a great golfer regardless of my tuition, so my job was to guide him and simply make sure he doesn't go off track. At this age, physical growth in height and body mass can play a huge role in the golf swing so even with all good intentions for swing planes and all that good stuff, it can be hard to keep the swing consistent!
I saw Jack again recently for his monthly check in and his handicap has now halved to 6! I wasn't surprised by this, Jack will be a scratch golfer in no time!
I want to share something with you which everyone can learn from and it really demonstrates the maturity of Jack's 'golf brain'. During our conversation about Jack's golf he pulled out a small notebook from his golf bag. In this notebook he not only had all of his stats for each game (GIR, fairways hit, putts etc) but also notes for certain holes in practice rounds he was playing before some Junior Open events. It was great to see a young golfer taking the time to analyse his game in the pursuit of improvement. This is the mindset of an elite golfer and will be one of the reasons he'll succeed in the game!

Thank you for taking the time to read this months newsletter!
See you on the tee!
Adam.
